A Story Worth Telling
This project aimed to tell a culturally or personally significant moment to us. My partner and I chose to channel our admiration for the painter Artemisia Gentileschi into our animation, as she was and still remains a prominent figure in art history for her contributions. We decided to go with a crash course style, making the content more engaging and interesting for those not necessarily as interested in history as we are, combining vector and scrapbook visuals. The colors help us accomplish this, with the textures coming from historically accurate textiles and other various materials. This particular visual and motion graphic style was much more ambitious than we expected, with each frame needing its own Illustrator or Photoshop file, essentially. The background music was taken from the soundtrack of Call Me by Your Name, which takes place in Italy. (TW: mentions of sexual assault, nudity)
